En 2007, les ETATS-UNIS le service que postal réchauffera pour les vacances par la publication des vacances tricotent, quatre timbres comportant le langage figuré classique d´hiver conçu et la machine tricotée par l´illustrateur nationalement connu Nancy Stahl. Ces beaux timbres se composent d´un mâle fini, d´un arbre à feuilles persistantes de snow tacheter, d´un snow man gai folâtrant un chapeau supérieur, et d´un ours lunatique de nounours. Ces dernières années, le tricotage est devenu tout à fait populaire encore, aux Etats-Unis et internationalement. Inspiré par les chandails norvégiens traditionnels et les bas tricotés de Noël, Stahl a décidé de "quelque chose de confortable" pour le établissement de cette année de timbre de vacances. Elle avait l´habitude un programme de logiciel d´ordinateur pour dessiner ses conceptions originales et pour les convertir en points et rangées. Alors elle a téléchargé l´information à une machine de tricotage électronique et l´avait l´habitude pour tricoter ses créations. La mesure plus petite du point de la machine n´a pas fourni tout à fait l´effet Stahl espérait réaliser. Ainsi elle a transféré les conceptions sur des cartes de poinçon et a utilisé une machine de tricotage différente qui fonctionne quelque chose comme un vieux manche de jacquard et a une plus grande mesure de point. Stahl a balayé les morceaux finis dans son ordinateur et a retouché les images photographiques pour s´assurer que tous les points ont aligné correctement. Le résultat est un ensemble de quatre colorés et de timbres "confortables" qui ajouteront un contact supplémentaire de chaleur à la correspondance saisonnière. - In 2007, the U.S. Postal Service will warm up for the holidays by issuing Holiday Knits, four stamps featuring classic winter-time imagery designed and machine knitted by nationally known illustrator Nancy Stahl. These beautiful stamps consist of a dignified stag, a snow-dappled evergreen tree, a perky snowman sporting a top hat, and a whimsical teddy bear. In recent years, knitting has become quite popular again, both in the United States and internationally. Inspired by traditional Norwegian sweaters and knitted Christmas stockings, Stahl decided on "something cozy" for this year´s holiday stamp issuance. She used a computer software program to draw her original designs and convert them to stitches and rows. Then she downloaded the information to an electronic knitting machine and used it to knit her creations. The machine´s smaller stitch gauge didn´t provide quite the effect Stahl was hoping to achieve. So she transferred the designs onto punch cards and used a different knitting machine that works something like an old Jacquard loom and has a larger stitch gauge. Stahl scanned the finished pieces into her computer and retouched the photographic images to ensure that all the stitches aligned properly. The result is a set of four colorful and "cozy" stamps that will add an extra touch of warmth to seasonal correspondence.
