I recently purchased this coin Philip IV Tours mint 4.0 grams, rEference Duplessy 251, Ob: Central cross, PHILIPPVS REX - +BHDICTV:SIT:HOmeHI:nRIEI:ihV:XPI, RE: Castle with cross above, fleur-de-lis border, TVRONVS CIVIS
Will anyone advise me on the scarcity, value and/or importance of this coin, if any?
Also, does anyone know the reputation of Gabriel Vandervort of www.ancientresources.comLink (http)? As he is wanting to purchase this coin from me.

Isn't there a price given in the Duplessy catalogue ?
Try asking on the French forum. Somebody there must have one.
If Gabriel Vandervort pays you a reasonable proportion of the catalogue price, I don't see that his reputation matters. He might be worried about yours (will you send him the coin or not once he has paid? Is the coin genuine ?) .
Or you could auction the coin to ascertain its value by seeing what it fetches. This is an auction website.

I do not have the duplessy catalogue, I have only the reference number and I will ask on the French Forum, thank you.
I believe this coin to be quite genuine, he is offering me (in trade or cash) far above what I paid for it. I am new to trading and selling. I have only collected before.
Hence, my hesitation in someone who solicits me outside of "normal" auction channels. I believe my caution is prudent and as far as My Reputation, I believe in holding to the highest of standards, ethics, code of conduct and so forth........Of course I will send him the coin if we agree on terms or I may keep it myself, after all, I liked it, purchased it and would not have, just to turn around and sell it. That is not why I collect coins.
Thank you for your advice and I will attempt to locate the duplessy catalogue, I highly appreciate your help.

bonsoir MP,
where is this buyer located? if you accept his payment, i give this advice as a former usps employee who has listened to postal inspectors, make sure to be paid in a trackable insured manner or by PAYPAL or such. you can send the coin by registered mail to cover yourself as far as liabilities go. as i said in the other forum about a recent customer losing his money was because he did not follow good procedure. if this coin is very valuable, then i am sure my advi
